Supporting Future Professionals in Applying Their Theoretical Knowledge, VALPRO – One of the Largest Metal Processing Companies in the Baltics – Offers Internship Opportunities in Various Fields, Including Information Technology (IT). Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences IT student Artur Baskov (4th year) has shared his experience from an IT internship at VALPRO. 

 

During the six-week internship, Artur had the opportunity to become part of the VALPRO team and apply the knowledge gained at university in a real work environment. It was the lecturers at Vidzemes University who encouraged him to apply for an internship at VALPRO. 

“Digital technologies and their impact on modern life have always inspired me. I believe the IT sector is highly dynamic and rapidly evolving. There is always something new to learn. That’s why I chose to study at Vidzemes University – to deepen my knowledge and later apply it in my workplace,” Artur says. 

 

“Looking back at my time at VALPRO, I have only positive feelings. The main tasks during my internship were related to databases and documentation preparation. My supervisor Jēkabs and other colleagues were always supportive – whenever I needed help, I knew exactly who to turn to.” 

 During the internship, Artur also had the chance to gain more in-depth experience with Microsoft Access. His key insights came from learning how to prepare documentation correctly and professionally. 

 

“I would like to praise my supervisor Jēkabs and the rest of the VALPRO team. At first, I didn’t know what their attitude towards me would be or whether they would help me when something was unclear. However, from the very beginning, it became clear that I had managed to prove myself in the best possible way,” Artur shares. 

 “I am glad that, encouraged by my lecturers, I chose VALPRO as my internship place. I would definitely recommend Vidzemes University students not to be afraid to apply. The team is friendly, and the work environment is well-organized so that everyone feels safe and comfortable,” Artur recalls with positive memories.
